June 9th 2007

Sorry for not keeping up with the blogging this week. Been a bit busy as we all are I am sure. Well it looks like I won't be getting my new stove/cooker anytime soon. I asked for a full refund from the store I was to get it from. I was not happy with the way they treated me. The stove was on back order so I have wasted a week of sitting around waiting on a phone call for it. And the shop didn't have the common curtesy to give me a call to tell me it was delayed. Well there are plenty of other shops and stoves out there that I don't need to be treated like that. It was going to be my first brand new stove and I was going to a gas hob for the first time too. And when you have lost trust in the shop how on earth can you trust them to actually hook up the gas correctly? Sorry for the rant, but I think that customer service should be a very high priority to some of these stores and it isn't, it seems it is get out and make the sale no matter what. Well I for one won't take it. So I guess my old stove will have to do for a bit longer.
Hubby is treating me today.... We are off to London shortly to visit Borough Market. I have been wanting to visit it for ages now. I would see snippets of it on Masterchef and kept asking hubby where is that.... I want to visit there and see the lovely food the chefs on the show are buying. Well this will actually be my second visit. My first was on a day they weren't open. We were in the area and I wanted to see it. Even though alot of the stalls weren't open there were one or two that were. And some lovely shops next to it that are open. I can recommend a stop in at Neal's Yard Dairy if you like cheese!!! Wow!!! And a lovely wine shop nearby too. Sorry forgot the name. Anyway, I am ready to put on my walking shoes and go and explore the fun world of food.... See you all when I get back.

Glad you had a good time. Enjoy your summer with your old cooker. Did you ever watch Tamasin Day Lewis when she used to cook in her old kitchen (pre renovations) on a really old white cooker. That was my favourite series of hers. Not sure where you live Pat but RDO in Reigate seem very good, they also have a website rdo.co.uk We bought our new cooker from them. They quite often meet the same deals that you can get at the big stores.

Thanks for that!! I haven't heard of them before. We are in Essex, not sure where Reigate is. I will have a look at their web site. I liked that program too! Would love to have a cooker like that. Mine is all electric and the seals are falling off the oven doors. And the hob doesn't heat up enough to do stir frys. I will get a new one someday.
